L&T EduTech Ignites Future Engineers with Immersive Internship Programs for Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Students
Chennai, 16 June 2025 — Reinforcing its commitment to building future-ready talent, L&T EduTech recently hosted three specialised internship programs for students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore. Held across May and June 2025, the programs provided hands-on exposure to Civil, Chemical and Electrical Engineering domains, connecting academic learning with real-world industry applications.
Civil Engineering Internship: Bridging Theory and Field (5 – 17 May 2025)
Seventy-five Civil Engineering students participated in a two-week program designed to align core engineering concepts with practical construction insights. Led by R Balasubramanian, Lead SME – L&T EduTech, the program covered AI in civil engineering, geotechnical simulations, formwork systems, sustainability practices and transportation infrastructure planning. Students gained hands-on experience through tool-based training in STAAD.Pro, ProjectLibre and Excel-based simulations. The program also featured visits to L&T’s Safety Innovation School, Construction Skill Training Institute, Research & Testing Centre and Water Technology Centre.
Chemical Engineering Internship: From Design to Field (9 – 31 May 2025)
Guided by domain experts Dr Nakka Muralidhara Rao and Dr Badhrinarayanan, Chemical Engineering students explored the fundamentals of Smart P&IDs and 3D modelling using AutoDesk Plant 3D. Students translated design concepts into intelligent models and deliverables through a pilot project. The experience was further enriched by visits to L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering’s Modular Fabrication Facility at Kattupalli and Proserv Oil & Gas Solutions, offering a close view of operational workflows in oil and gas. Sessions on underground piping, plot plans and hazard zoning gave students a comprehensive understanding of plant design and constructability.
Electrical Engineering Internship: Empowering Digital Engineers (2 – 13 June 2025)
A total of 111 Electrical Engineering students underwent training led by KK Jembu Kailas, Lead SME – L&T EduTech, at the company’s Chennai headquarters. The program explored emerging areas such as AI in power systems, smart grids, substation automation and sustainable energy. Students were trained in MATLAB/Simulink, Arduino IDE, Power BI and other tools and participated in site immersions at the Energy Centre, Transmission Line Testing and Research Station and Smart World Technology Innovation Centre.
Each internship was anchored in mentorship by L&T’s senior engineers, ensuring that students not only gained technical knowledge but also understood how engineering translates into impact on the ground. These programs reflect L&T EduTech’s focus on strengthening academia-industry collaboration to nurture capable, industry-ready professionals across engineering disciplines.
