About the Course
This course is for learners craving a thorough understanding of green energy concepts and applications. This knowledge can be employed to advance in our current work, to move into the green energy field, and to promote sustainability at home and in our community. New technologies, market structures, and business models make green energy a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and exciting field. We use lectures, design calculations, real-time case studies, and more practical examples to provide a complete and up-to-date education on green energy. This course will lay the groundwork for understanding and implementing important green technologies such as wind, solar, geothermal, biomass, and various energy storage technologies.
Course Objective
- Understand the difference between energy from conventional sources and from other green energy sources & their significance
- Understand the environmental impact of energy conversion
- Provide general understanding of the components of a wind turbine generator (WTG), including the rotor, gearbox, and electric generator
- Familiarize with the different applications of solar energy, including solar thermal applications and solar photovoltaic systems.
- Provide an overview of Geothermal energy, Ocean energy, Tidal energy, Wave energy and OTEC & its potential as a renewable energy source
- Evaluate the advantages, limitations, and applications of fuel cells, hydrogen energy systems, MHD power plants, and electric vehicles.
