About the Course
Heat Exchange Equipment is widely used in all types of industries like process, power, chemical, petrochemical, manufacturing, refrigeration, space application, food, pharmaceutical and biotechnology etc. This course covers the selection, thermohydraulic design, rating, and operational problems of various types of heat exchangers, although the focus is on the shell and tube type of heat exchanger as 60 % of industrial usages are of shell and tube. Various industrial practices in use to size the shell and tube heat exchanger will be covered. Design methodologies for other types of tubular heat exchangers such as double pipe heat exchangers, reboilers, condensers and evaporators will also be covered. Next, design of non-tubular heat exchangers such as air-cooled heat exchangers and plate heat exchangers and other types of heat exchange equipment such as cooling towers and agitated vessels will be covered. Fouling mechanisms and their control in heat exchangers and the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of heat exchange equipment will also be covered. Finally, vibration issues and their resolution and how to carry out the Mechanical Design of heat exchangers manually and also using PV Elite software will be covered.
