Power Plant Steam Turbine & Auxiliary Systems

Power Plant Steam Turbine and Auxiliary Systems
Mechanical Engineering

To develop in-depth knowledge of the learner on real-life applications of engineering -thermodynamics in a steam turbine, its design philosophy and constructional details including assembly of large capacity steam turbine used in power plants.

To give exposure to the manufacturing procedures of various components of a steam turbine, its erection, commissioning as well as operational procedures of a large capacity steam turbine.

About the Course

The steam turbine is a machine that converts the thermal energy of pressurized steam and transforms it into mechanical work. The turbine generates a rotary motion which is used to drive the electrical generator that generates electrical power. This course is designed with topics related to different industry oriented technical and functional areas of steam turbine and its auxiliary systems and equipment in a power plant. The various modules and topics provides the learner detailed information and thorough industry-based knowledge on design, technical features, manufacturing, commissioning and operation of the specific technical areas of steam turbine and its auxiliary systems.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, the learner is expected to know about the essential skills for designing, manufacturing, erecting and commissioning of a large capacity steam turbine & its auxiliary systems in a power plant and also have knowledge about efficient operation of large capacity steam turbine and its auxiliary systems in a power plant.
