Micro-Processors & Applications – A practical approach

Micro Processors and Applications - a practical approach
Electrical and Electronics Engineering

Learners will be introduced to generic architecture, addressing modes and interrupts of microprocessors and micro-controllers. This course will also help learners understand assembly language programming for microprocessors and micro-controllers, principles of interfacing I/O & memory, programmable peripheral interfaces and modular development boards.

About the Course

This course on ‘Microprocessors and Applications’ is a foundational course for obtaining the knowledge and skills in the area of embedded Systems. The course has been designed with a clear vision and roadmap for the undergraduate program with fundamentals of digital electronics, applied in designing microprocessors and micro-controllers, leading to application-specific embedded boards and real time operating systems.

The course provides the learners an ability to visualize the applied principles of digital systems and to correlate the role of micro-processors in every domain of life. The concepts of the course are weaved with perfect demonstrations through digital platform along with use cases, which provide complete learner engagement. During the course, the instructional model is designed to ensure that the learner has opportunities to explore modular tasks using simulation platforms and to gain practical experience by executing an in-course project.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course, the learner will be able to

  • Manipulate the relation of digital circuits in building the structure of microprocessors and micro-controllers
  • Understand the various functionalities of microprocessors and micro-controllers
  • Compare the performance of microprocessors with that of micro-controllers
  • Select the appropriate microprocessors and micro-controllers for different applications
  • Characterize the different interfacing mechanisms of microprocessors and micro-controllers
